It speaks to me in a way no other self-help book has: very direct and understandable--while empathetic and kind. It is especially meaningful to learn that the author has been through a lot herself--and finds herself successfully on "the other side." Somehow, this gives a particular sense of promise and optimism. I have read self-help books--this one is most valuable.

Just read through 2 of Sarah's chapters. The cases are so universal. To dig out of our own pain, it helps to see it in others and learn how they worked through it. The book is lovely, straightforward with beautiful images throughout.
This is a great read accessible, rational, and in several spots beautifully expressed. For people who are in pain - and who doesn't have some pain? - this book gets to those spots that hurt, it articulates them, and then shows another path. Practical, beautiful, and most important, accessible.
We're all aiming for peace and happiness - even if you don't know it yet and think "success" lies somewhere else. Unfortunately we all go through some stuff before we get to that place. Sarah's words help us understand what has made us the way we are today and how we can change some of the things we don't like. Ths book has many words of wisdom and lots of practical help.
I don't know any book or anyone who can help with clearing up tangled relationships better than Sarah Gillen. Her approach, called Energy Dynamics, offers a hands-on way to take the confusing and defeating energy of some relationships out of your body. This offers the opportunity to freely choose how to manage a troubling relationship. I have read the book many times and just went back to the chapter "Cords and Decording releasing the burdens and unhealthy connections." This helped me effectively act to restructure a set of relationships and make some important decisions.

This book has been on my bedside table for a few months. This is where it belongs as a great source of quick and not so quick fixes when I hit a bump on the road. I find something new every time I open it. You know how some pieces of wisdom take time to integrate and sometimes are forgotten until we are reminded about them again when we are ready to hear? Very empowering and concrete, based on scientific evidence, trauma literature and clinical expertise. I highly recommend this book to anybody working on defeating old habits, in need of improving focus and assertion or just looking to be more grounded and calm in the tumult of life!
